Overview
Working in Kuwait: what you need to know
Kuwait has recruited workers from Nepal for many years. Demand is mostly for driving, cleaning, hospitality, security and other service roles, with some construction and oil-sector support work. The Kuwaiti Dinar is a high-value currency, so even modest monthly salaries in KWD convert to a meaningful amount in NPR.
Kuwait City, Hawalli, Farwaniya and the oil-sector area around Al Ahmadi are the main employment centres.

Pay and cost of living
What you can expect to earn and spend
General gross monthly ranges, shown as guidance only. Actual pay depends on the employer's demand letter and your contract.
| Typical monthly pay | NPR 48,000 to 170,000 |
|---|---|
| Cost of livingLower when the employer provides housing | NPR 28,000 to 55,000 |
| Estimated saving per monthEstimate only | Up to NPR 142,000 |
The saving figure is a simple estimate: the lowest pay minus the highest living cost, up to the highest pay minus the lowest living cost. It ignores tax, insurance, deductions and remittance fees. Local-currency figures use approximate exchange rates.
Savings
Accommodation and food are often provided in driving, cleaning and camp-based jobs. Because the dinar is strong against the rupee, savings can be meaningful even on a modest salary, but confirm exactly what is provided in your contract.

Worker rights
Your rights and legal protections in Kuwait
Kuwait's private-sector Labour Law (Law No. 6 of 2010) provides for a written contract, paid annual leave (30 days), sick leave, a weekly rest day and an end-of-service indemnity. Domestic workers are covered by a separate law. Workers should make sure the contract states the salary and how it will be paid, preferably into a named bank account.

Embassy and emergency contacts
Nepal's diplomatic missions provide consular services, help with passport renewal and, in serious cases, support with disputes and repatriation. Which mission covers Kuwait depends on the country, so note its contact details before you travel.
